PC gaming If my Emmanuel College students are to be taken as a representative sample, then gaming consoles — PlayStation 3 and Xbox, foremost among them — not PCs, are players’ favorite platforms.

PlayStation Network losing money, but the outlook is bright (Digital Trends)Date: Tue, 28. December 2010 00:29:05
Digital Trends - Sony is a bit behind the curve when it comes to the online side of the PlayStation 3. Yes, Sony fans, it is still a great online experience, and the people are fantastic, and the console is better, etc., etc., but the sad fact is that Sony is playing catch-up with Microsoft. The Xbox 360 has been airing video clips for years, has a full selection of music and videos to rent and buy, has begun to broadcast ESPN on Xbox Live (and also just announced that it will even be airing most of the Bowl games, including the national championship), and it is even discussing bringing a premium channel online. The PS3 hardware may be better, but the Xbox currently owns the online side. Search your feelings, PlayStation fan, you know it to be true.
Nintendo Crowns Nvidia Chipset for Next-Gen DS Handheld (PC World)Date: Wed, 14. October 2009 16:01:00
PC World - Nintendo next-gen DS video games handheld may sport an Nvidia Tegra chip, in today's second 'confidentially sourced' bit of speculative news. (See 'Next Microsoft Xbox Console to Use AMD GPU?' for the first.) According to Bright Side of News, Nintendo plans to implement Nvidia's computer-on-a-chip technology to power its DS-family successor, possibly lending rationale to allegations that Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jen-Hsun Huang recently said 50 percent of Nvidia revenue would eventually come from the Tegra family.
Game Devs Migrating Toward iPhone, Away From WiiDate: Sun, 7. February 2010 15:06:21
A new report by Game Developer Research reveals that the number of developers working on games for the iPhone continues to rise, roughly doubling in number from last year. At the same time, the amount of work done on games for Nintendo's Wii dropped significantly:
"Just over 70 percent of developers said they were developing at least one game for PC or Mac (including browser and social games), rising slightly from last year; 41 percent reported working on console games. Within that latter group, Xbox 360 was the most popular system with 69 percent of console developers targeting it, followed by 61 percent for PlayStation 3. While those console figures stayed within a few percent of last year's results, the change in Wii adoption was much more significant: reported developer support for the system dropped from 42 percent to 30 percent of console developers, supporting numerous publishers' claims of a recent softening of the Wii market."pa href="http://games.slashdot.org/story/10/02/06/1735237/Game-Devs-Migrating-Toward-iPhone-Away-From-Wii?from=rss"img src="http://slashdot.org/slashdot-it.pl?from=rssamp;op=imageamp;style=h0amp;sid=10/02/06/1735237"/a/ppa href="http://games.slashdot.org/story/10/02/06/1735237/Game-Devs-Migrating-Toward-iPhone-Away-From-Wii?from=rss"Read more of this story/a at Slashdot./p

Review: 'Duke Nukem' an ugly, mean-spirited messDate: Thu, 23. June 2011 08:04:35
There's a sequence in "Duke Nukem Forever" (2K Games, for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, $59.99; PC, $49.99) that's destined to be remembered as one of the all-time low points in the history of video games.
